10 Philosophers Summarized In One Sentence
The issue of God is perhaps one of the most complex and long-standing traditions in philosophy. After all, what started philosophy if it wasn’t…What are we doing here? What caused this? No matter what your belief system is, there’s a lot of cool stuff to think about.
The problem? These books are so dense, and you need to really slave away to find the nuggets of wisdom.
I want to break down 10 philosophers into one sentence.
1. Plato — Ancient Greece
“God is the perfect and eternal transcendent being that provides order, form, and purpose to the universe”
2. Augustine- 355 AD, Early Christian
“God is simply omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent and decided to create the universe out of love for the good.”
3. Avicenna- 1000 AD, Muslim
“God is the single source of all perfection, in which all other things derive existence from.”
4. Thomas Aquinas-1225 AD, Christian
“God’s role as ruler of the universe cannot be completely known, but can be explained with reason.”
