Many ordinary people are falling prey to the seductive power of accelerationism. What was once a fringe philosophy reserved for wackos is now entering the mainstream of our everyday political discussion.
What the hell is Accelerationism?!?!
People are now politically advocating for the necessity that the conditions of our society should get far worse if we ever hope it to get better. And we should personally aid this process through action. In the most extreme case, our society should crumble into nothing, so we can start over anew.
It's a bit like a drug addict, we think they have to reach bottom before they will open up to recovery. America, while resembling a bit like a drug addict and full of them, should not be treated the same way.
It’s not just dumb, it’s dangerous.
Why?
Many Americans, when approaching this idea of accelerationism, either suffer from some farsightedness or nearsightedness. They either overestimate or underestimate the consequences if this phenomenon were to actually occur.
