So you’re thinking of joining the “Great Resignation”? Not so fast. Some people get so excited about quitting that they don't think about some major issues that can come back to bite them in the ass later. Check these boxes so you can stay covered.

Don’t be like me. When I was young and stupid, I didn’t think I needed anyone and acted accordingly. I didn't realize how short-sighted that was until I tried to switch industries. I scrambled to find even one person because I was embarrassed to ask after how I had behaved.

You start your own business, change industries, or make it to the final rounds at a new potential employer, and then you’re hit with it….they need references and fast. Before you quit your job by sending a “Fuck You” letter to your boss or leaving abruptly, ask yourself how valuable leaving with a good impression will be later.

As much as you hate your job and are excited about the new opportunity, I advise holding back on releasing any negative feelings, even if you’re sure you won't return. Odds are, you’ll be seeing these people again or at least have to call on them to vouch for you in the future. Treat everyone with respect and leave honorably.
