I’m a Straight Guy That Has Watched Way Too Much About Sex & The City
During the course of my relationship, I have been subjected to endless hours of Sex & The City. I ignored it at first but eventually formed some Stockholm Syndrome where I actually started to pay attention. I win at Sex & The City trivia every time with my wife, and while she’s impressed, she’s also upset since it’s her favorite show. Now I know way too much and inevitably developed some theories about the characters in the show.
Carrie:
Carrie is a stylish, quirky, optimistic, cute, affable city girl who is in search of the dream catch. What is her dream catch? A father figure. Carrie exhibits some abandonment issues throughout the show as she clearly is estranged from her family, especially her father. Rarely any of her family is mentioned in the show, except one time when let it slip that “dad left early in life.” Carrie’s estrangement from her father especially comes to define her pursuit of love. Throughout the show, the two main guys she gets closest to are Big and Petrovsky who are both larger-than-life yet elusive. In order to…
