Make People Despise You With These 5 Questions
I have had many conversations cut short and never to be continued, probably because the person lost interest or got scared. That’s fine, but I discovered 5 questions that I believe have been ruining first impressions for me. They are going to seem common, inconsequential, and minute but that’s the thing about first impressions; you have a few minutes to create a connection so if you’re wasting it on ineffective questions, you can run out of time!
1. Leading Question
Leading questions encourage the other person to answer one way, so they are essentially rhetorical. They barely even ask the other person for anything, so it’s not designed to lead to more conversation.
“How awesome is this, eh?!?!”
It sounds like you’re being positive, but it really does nothing for the conversation. The person is maybe going to say “Yea” but that’s about it. They are most likely not going to say no because that would sound negative.
Leading questions can also come off as interrogatory too because they seek to establish compliance too quickly, or people may suspect it as an attempt to profile them.
