My Wife & I Can’t Agree on COVID

It’s clear in these times, having a partner that you disagree with politically can be a dealbreaker. Especially when it comes to the COVID pandemic and the vaccine. Now, politics are not merely internal beliefs about how the government conducts its duties, but on how your personal decisions affect others.

Enter, my wife and I. Our bickering over the last two years has made it clear that we don't exactly see eye to eye. My wife often calls me a Trumper because of some of my stances on the virus, even though we both lean Left and believe COVID is real.

Am I essential or not?

My wife is very cautious, she doesn't believe in taking any chances with COVID. During the pandemic, she has been extremely resistant to going anywhere, and because of the spreadability of the virus, me going anywhere.

It became quite clear during the pandemic that for half of us to sit safely at home, the other half need to bring us stuff and help us. While I am by no means an essential worker, I do find myself in the grey area sometimes. This is troublesome since I can’t afford to say “Well, I just won’t go anywhere” since I do in fact have expectations of going places to do things.
