Morning routines have become super important, as they can set the momentum for the whole day. Many of the books I read promote extensive journaling, exercising, and meditation in their morning routine. All that’s great, but the first thing I do, like millions of others do, is to go to the washroom to get cleaned up.

For such a small room and little time frame, a lot of magic can happen here. Over the years, I compiled a series of small and simple practices that made these fifteen minutes one of my favorite times of the day.

I hope you’ll try them out!

1. Water

I keep a large glass mason jar next to the sink and drink the whole thing first thing. We need to stay hydrated, but it’s easy to forget during the activity of the day.

It’s not about getting hydrated, it’s mental…

The day just started and I’m already ahead.

2. Intention

You don't need to go crazy here. When you brush your teeth, think about one thing you want to complete, get, or learn about today.

Many morning routines are wanting to sit down and journal our intentions and everything first thing in the morning. I am just waking up here, let me get some coffee in me before we start strategizing my whole life and having a full-out therapy session!

Focusing on one simple thing is the most effective.

3. Music

During your shower, put one of your favorite songs on. Modern-day technology has armed us with a lot of options for listening to music while bathing. Whether it be waterproof headphones or a Bluetooth speaker, take 5 minutes to jam out. Music sets and increases your mood for the rest of the day.

4. Stretch

Stretch your face with some simple face yoga. Move your neck around, but most importantly, make this face:
