You are correct, though I think of these as like haikus. Short concrete ideas in a fixed space, but to borrow from Derrida, "the text is what it not said."

It would be comical to write an exhausting 10,000 word article about Hamlet, not only would no one read it, what would be left to be said/imagined (outside of scholarly critique)?

I've certainly taken liberties with this reductionism, but ultimately it's designed to spur discussion, get people interested to read, and it just fits with Medium readership.
